September lately
September has been full of little moments that remind me why I love this life. Family, friends, country days, bonfires, music, chickens and plenty happening around the farm. Here’s a little glimpse of what September has looked like lately.
September always seems to bring a little more energy to life around here. The days are getting longer, the countryside is beginning to wake up, and somehow the weeks have been filling themselves with all sorts of little moments. The kids have been keeping me busy, as they always do, and there have been plenty of chickens around too! Living in the countryside means that family life and farm life often blend into one another.
And honestly, family is what makes my life feel full. It is the everyday things, the noise, the laughter, the chaos and the quiet moments together that make my heart content. I feel very blessed to be raising my children here in the countryside, in and around Boorowa, surrounded by open space and a community that feels like home.
We’ve been spending more time with our wonderful neighbour and honorary farm grandfather, Poppy Mick. There have been bonfires, plenty of stories, and even a little music. Austin has been learning to play guitar with Poppy Mick, which has been such a beautiful thing to watch. We’ve also had the chance to spend some time at Poppy Mick’s farm and see a little more of life around the shearing shed. These are the kinds of places and moments that remind me how much country life shapes the way I see the world.
We also had a lovely visit from my friend Carly Fisher. It’s always special when good friends come to the farm and you get to slow down for a while, catch up and share a little piece of everyday life together. We had such a lovely catch-up and even enjoyed a little bonfire together.
So that’s a little of September lately. Family, friends, country life, creativity and plenty of small moments in between.
I wouldn’t trade it!
